New online ammo locator seeks to help shooters endure shortage

1

I wish my 401K would perform as well as the box of .22 long rifle sitting in my safe.

I think the ammo has increased in value about 400 percent, although it might be 4,000 percent. With my math skills you never know.

Suffice it to say it’s hard to find, so I’m treating it like a box of Krugerrands.

Enter Gunbot.net – a new site, still in Beta, that seeks to ease the suffering of shooters looking for hard-to-find calibers like: 7.62x39mm, 45 acp, 9mm, 308 and more – you know, the kind of ammo that used to be carried at Wal-Mart.

The site searches for ammo in real time, and has tabs for 14 popular calibers. It shows who’s got the ammo and the price per round.

It’s a great service for avid shooters, but a bit depressing.

I remember paying $120 for a case of AK kibble. Now, according to Gunbot.net, $120 would buy me 240 rounds of Wolf Military Classic, rather than 1,000. At least they have vendors with ammo in stock.

I don’t know much more about the site’s administrators. I’m still waiting for a response to an email. Given the scope of the shortage, the buzz about Gunbot is staggering, even though it’s still in Beta.

In addition to ammunition, there are searches in the works for magazines and reloading supplies.

Here’s a list of the ammo vendors contributing to the site:
