‘Pop Tart’ bill in committee today

Lee’s note: Two pro-gun bills will be heard in committee today. One allows concealed or open carry during a mandatory evacuation, even for those Unified-Sportsmen-Of-Florida-logowithout a concealed carry license.

The other legislation has become known as the “Pop Tart Bill.” It will bring some sanity and common sense to zero-tolerance policies in Florida schools.

THE FIRST BILL: SB-296 By Senator Jeff Brandes (R-St. Petersburg) is scheduled for its 1st hearing in the Senate.  It will have be heard in the Senate Criminal Justice Committee on Monday, March 3, 2014, at 4:00pm.

THE SECOND BILL: SB-1060 Senator Greg Evers (R-Baker) is also scheduled for its 1st hearing in the Senate.  It will be heard in the same committee — Senate Criminal Justice Committee on Monday, February 2, 2014, at 4:00pm

SB-296 By Sen. Brandes is a bill to protect citizens from being disarmed and charged with a crime for carrying a weapon or firearm during a mandatory evacuation ordered by the Governor during a declared state of emergency.  Read the bill here:

When you’re ordered to take your family and leave your home and belongings behind, you should be not be deprived of the ability to protect yourself and your family.  This bill is especially important for law-abiding people in a state that is prone to evacuations due to hurricanes.

SB-1060 By Sen. Evers is bill to stop some of the unbelievable actions by school administrators against children who behave like children and point fingers at each other pretending to shoot guns, or draw picture of guns or wear t-shits with pictures of guns. etc.  To read the bill click here:  SB-1060 By Sen.
