Florida gun sales surge, set records

Gun sales continue to set records in Florida

Gun sales for January 2013  were more than double what they were a year ago, according to data provided by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

FDLE’s Firearms Purchase Program conducts background checks for firearms sales.

The numbers, of course, do not include private sales, which do not require a background check.

The data shows the current buying frenzy began in November 2012, following the presidential election.

FDLE’s report confirms why the shelves are bare in so many gun shops.
