Two Sarasotans hope to tap into the region’s growing gun trade by offering quality factory reloads at affordable prices.
Amendment II Armory, located at 3512 N. Lockwood Ridge Road, started selling pistol ammunition July 4.
So far, the shop has already churned out more than 100,000 rounds from their two Dillon progressive reloaders.
Chris Senterfitte says he and partner Jordan Williams have always been “gun guys,” so they know ammunition.
“We sell out every time we go to a gun show,” Senterfitte said.
Using once-fired brass, Winchester powder and CCI or Winchester primers, the reloads look good. The duo cast their own lead bullets, which are lubed to cut down on fouling.
Right now, they only offer ammo in the most-popular pistol calibers. Prices for the 50-round boxes are: 380 – $17, 9mm – $17, 40 S&W – $18, 45 acp 230 grain – $23, 45 acp 265 grain – $24, 38/357 – $24.
They plan to use the money they earn from the lead rounds to stock firearms – they are an FFL holder – and to start production of jacketed ammunition, and then rifle rounds – most likely .223 and 7.62x39mm.
Senterfitte’s shop began as a tackle and custom fishing rod store. The walls are covered with rod blanks.
“If someone brings in a five-gallon pail of lead, I’ll trade them a custom fishing rod,” he said.
Amendment II Armory is a family run business, there’s a TV and a play area for their children.
