Sarasota City Manager slamming guns, gun owners, NRA on Twitter

Sarasota City Manager Tom Barwin is using his official Twitter account to make his opinion known about guns, gun owners and the National Rifle Association.

The city commission will consider a resolution Barwin authored today at 6 pm. His resolution calls on federal and state officials to ban “assault weapons” from civilian use, while allowing police access to the firearms.

  1. Gun crime is at a 20 year low. “assault weapons”, whatever the current definition is, are used in less than 2% of gun crime even though they are the most popular gun sold.
