We’re a finalist for the Society of Professional Journalists 2018 Sunshine State Awards

The Gun Writer is one of three finalists in the best blog writing category of the Society of Professional Journalists 2018 Sunshine State Awards, where journalists from across Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are recognized for their reporting in 2017.

No shit!

This is a mainstream media award. The judges are working journalists.

The first-, second- and third-place finishers will be announced at an awards ceremony on Aug. 4, 2018 at the University of Miami’s Newman Alumni Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

Here’s my competition:

  • Sarasota Herald-Tribune – Lee Williams, The Gun Writer
  • SouthFlorida.com – Michael Mayo, The Eat Beat by Michael Mayo

Gotta thank all of you for reading and keeping us going.

It really means a lot.
