TGW Review: The last weapon light you’ll ever need to buy, and our readers get 40% off (w/Videos)

Weight is one of the most important factors when determining what accessories to mount on a firearm.

So when the good folks at OLIGHT asked me to review one of their products about a month ago, my attention was immediately drawn to their PL-MINI Valkyrie weapon light because it’s small, powerful — 400 lumens — and lightweight. It weighs in at only 2 ounces.

In addition — it’s rechargeable!

I’ve long been a proponent of mounting lightweight “pistol” lights on carbines, because of their reduced weight and smaller, more compact size — if they are rugged enough to handle the additional recoil — so we arranged an impromptu test.

We mounted it to an AK and it withstood 100 rounds of 7.62x39mm. I put it on two XDs and it handled 100 rounds of 9mm and 100 rounds of .45 ACP. And then the kicker — we mounted the PL-MINI on the business end of an 870 and shot 10 rounds of 00 buck and 10 slugs.

The results?

The PL-MINI Valkyrie took the beating without any issues whatsoever.

In my opinion, it’s the perfect light for any weapon.

There’s a lot going on with this light that needs to be mentioned, in addition to its small size.

The 400 lumen output is downright mean. It can throw a beam nearly 250 feet.

If you choose to mount the MINI on your personal defense weapon and encounter The Bad Man in your home — the 400 lumens will bedazzle the hell out of him. He’ll be rendered blind for a few critical seconds.

The charger — a USB cable — is magnetized and snaps onto the light securely with little effort. It’s a great system — far better than any iPhone-type junk. The charger changes from red to green when complete, and there’s a subtle LED indicator on the light itself that lets you know when it’s running low.

The MINI is small — about the same size as a Zippo lighter — so it doesn’t affect the balance of the weapon at all. I hardly notice it on my AK — where it will remain

The dual activating switches are easy to use. Press down once to turn on and off. Press down and hold for momentary on. The light shuts off when you release the switch.

The MINI’s quick-release lever made switching it from weapon to weapon an easy task. It comes with two spacers, which are easy to install, so it fits both Glock and Picatinny rails.

To sum — this is a great light, and we are very pleased and grateful to offer our readers an additional 40% off an already low price.
